Mixed Arts Classes

Designed with a JKD Concepts flow that takes the participants through the four ranges of combat while introducing skills, weapons, and techniques found in various arts, including Filipino Martial Arts, Silat, Savate, Western Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jujitsu, and others.

Depending on class size and proficiency, Weapons training, perfection drills, sparing, solo and partner training will be utilized. Situational awareness and scenario training, for both military/police and civilian self-protection. Tuesday classes are 1 hour, Thursday classes are approximately 1.5 hours in length, and finish with Metabolic Conditioning in the form of sparing, and/or pad work.

Please be 5-10 minutes early to stretch and warm up, wear athletic or street clothes, bare feet or mat shoes only.

Brazilian JiuJitu Classes

Our Jujitsu program is an eclectic style, influenced by the varied lineages of our instructors. We teach both Gi and No-gi styles weekly.

Our instructors have backgrounds in JKD, Alliance BJJ, 10th Planet BJJ, Filipino and Folk-style wrestling. For specific lineage breakdowns, please see instructor profiles, as each of us have our own unique journey in the grappling arts.

As an over-all style, submissions are emphasized over points, and old-school position control is valued above flashy high-risk fads, and we are a leg-lock friendly school.

Our Gi classes are taught in a competition focused atmosphere, but not in a strict, "IBJJF" type of ruleset. At the whitebelt level, we follow basic traditional BJJ rulesets for sparing, with safety limits on certain techniques and submissions for live rolling. Colored belts are encouraged to safely explore the techniques above the whitebelt level, (such as heel hooks and other twisting submissions,) with other colored belts.

Class structure typically is 1/2 drilling, 1/2 live sparing,(optional) you are expected to do your own stretching and warm-ups, solo drills will be included on occasion when warranted.

Please be 10-15 minutes early to stretch and warm up, wear a CLEAN Gi and a tight-fitting rash guard. T-shirts are not recommended for grappling, as the loose fabric presents a hazard for fingers and toes, and does not stay in place during heavy sparing like a rash guard will. Bring a custom fitted mouthguard for sparing, (teeth chip quite easily.) Trimmed nails(ALL 20) are aggressively requested.

Women's Fitness and Empowerment

Basic self-protective movements and techniques are gradually introduced in this class in a beginner-friendly manner, and 1/2 of the class will focus on fitness. "Fit-Jitsu" and "RushFit" are some of our current favorite fitness routines.

This class is a once-per week, ladies only, 1-hour class. No IFA membership is currently required to join this class.

The age limit for the class is 13, however 13-16 year olds should be accompanied by an adult such as a Mom, older sister, grandmother, etc.

We will review material frequently, beginners may jump into this program at any point during the year, so start now, and take advantage of this program while it is being offered for FREE.

Please be on-time, wear athletic or street clothes, bare feet or mat shoes only.

Kids Kali Classes

Designed for kids aged 10-12 years, this program is based on the rank and structure found in the Pekiti Tersia Kali Tactical Association's offical curriculum. Rank is based entirely on ability and knowledge, and all bladed training is removed, or replaced for the sake of the youth in this program. For example, long-blade is stick, short blades such as dagger and knife are replaced by palm-sticks, etc. This is a closed-door class, by application only, which includes an interview and express parental permission.

This class is taught by IFA Owner, Founder, and Senior Instructor, Guru Jim Miller.

Custom rattan stick cutting for each student is provided in-house, (please purchase a pair of sticks from our pro-shop!)

If your child would like a custom burn on their training sticks, please let us know and our designer would be happy to customize the training sticks for you.

Please be on-time for class, and wear required uniforms.

Kids JiuJitu Grappling

Kids Gi and No-Gi classes offered weekly.

Sport-focused classes emphasizing the fundamentals of ground-fighting, kids are taught competition-legal submissions, takedowns, and core grappling techniques and positions. Black and Brown belt lead instructors, and blue and purple belt coaches teach our kids Jiujitsu classes every week.

We encourage students in this class to cultivate a "Warrior Kid" mindset, teaching discipline, honor, integrity, kindness, humility, anti-bullying and self-defense within a fun, but serious training atmosphere.

Recommended age range is 7-12 years, however younger children may try out for the class as well. kids between the ages of 13-15 are generally encouraged to join the adult classes, however, kids of high rank or exceptional teaching skills are also permitted to attend kids class if they wish, as coaching assistants. This is a great way for young teens to gain valuable teaching experience, as well as more hands-on time with our instructors.

Students are encouraged, but not require to compete in local BJJ tournaments throughout the year.

We use the standard IBJJF approved kids ranking system.

Please be at least 5 minutes early, wear a clean Gi and belt for Gi classes, and rashguard and spats and/or grappling shorts for No-Gi classes.

Little Warriors Kids "Pre-Jitsu" Classes

This program is optimized for children ages 4-7, and is recommended as a starting point for all young whitebelts under the age of 9 years old. Games, stories and fun activities are used to teach beginners and young children the basics of safe movement on the mat, rolling, falling, and introduction to grappling fundamentals. This is a once per week class 30 minutes prior to our regular kids BJJ class, giving students 6 years and up the option to stay for both classes for a total of 90 minutes of instruction. This class is included in a regular membership. For non-members (including siblings of members) a pay-per class option is available.

No uniform required, class is "No-Gi," kids please wear close-fitting athleticwear or rash guards, if parents/guardians are not able to stay and observe classes, please ensure there are extra dojo Moms and Dads around before dropping off kids, thank you!
